Delphi Complete Works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Illustrated edition by SIR ARTHUR CONAN DOYLE Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks
When I was very young (c 1947), an uncle gave me a collection of works by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. I read the stories contained in the collection, and grew up expecting to read books by other authors who would excite my young mind as did Doyle. Alas, few could come up th that expectation as did works like 'The Exploits of Brigadier Gerard' and many other of Conan Doyle's works. I recently bought the Complete Works in anticipation of a long convalescence after major surgery, currently ongoing. Whilst I have not completely read the 'Complete Works', the old excitement returns as each page is (sic) turned. If you have a young mind get it, read it, enjoy it.Product details

Delphi Complete Works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Illustrated edition by SIR ARTHUR CONAN DOYLE Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
Finally a valuable collection of Doyle's excellent short stories and novels, not only historical. Recommended for all admirers of the physician from Edinburgh. Strongly recommended.
read the entire Holmes collection during my elementary years, then re-read in my late 20's. Looking forward to another go-around, along with the rest of Doyle's works.
I hadn't realized how much Doyle had written besides the Sherlock Holmes stories. He was a real craftsman. Humor, suspense, snappy dialogue--it's all here. I've enjoyed these stories more than any other collection from any author.
If you're a fan of Arthur Conan Doyle already, you know what I'm talking about when I say these are great stories, great reading, and a great time getting lost in the imagination of a wonderful writer.
This is a great edition of Conan Doyle's work. Not just for the Holmes stories, either. I've particularly liked the ghost stories in the book. Those can often be hard to find, and I think they are just as good, or better, than the detective stories.
It's great having all of Doyle's works together. I had no been able to find some of the more obscure tales and this collection solves that issue.
It is missing the just-discovered short story, but I am of the opinion that it was a pastiche authorized by Doyle for charity and not written by him. (It's not that good - you aren't missing much.)
The Holmes Stuff is Still the Best, but it's fun to read around in Conan Doyle's other work as well. I can't imagine a better way to get a feel for what it was like--for good, and for ill--to be a product of the British Empire during the particular span of time (1859-1930) Doyle lived. I'm particularly enjoying his autobiography, since he had a rather adventurous and incident-filled life, I've dipped into some of his other stories, and they are often charming, but it's striking to see how the Holmes tales bring a certain precision and discipline Doyle's writing, as if Holmes himself managed to "rub off" on the author. And, of course, Doyle, did do a bit of "detecting" on his own, with notable success, as he recounts in his memoir. Sometimes a near-great writer who has done something immortal (I've also been enjoying the splendid audio book of Wilkie Collins's Moonstone lately) is just the thing for cold winter's day.
